What is Assistant Flight Instructor Rating (AFIR)?

AFIR stands for Assistant flight instructor rating, required to impart flying training instructions. This is the best option for candidates who are interested in teaching/training pilots.

The best thing is no multi-engine rating is required to get an AFIR. This is also a good option for candidates, who want to join airlines after good flying experience, or are not able to afford cost of type ratings required to join national or international air carrier.  So once you fulfil all the requirements of ATPL you can join airlines as senior first officer directly.

As far as salary is concerned, initial monthly package of AFIR holder in India is found to be between Rs 50,000 and 100,000/-. Once you are with an experience of 200 hours you can apply for Flight Instructor rating.
